CPSIA, has a proposed amendment to allow natural cotton/wool etc as long as it's undyed and unbleached in Childrens items.
Oh yay! all the color is gone from Childhood...

The photo above shows my latest experiment in organic cotton, undyed, unbleached and stuffed with undyed, unbleached wool. Oh YAY!
(I think he's kinda scary so I named him "Yokai")

but we have to keep fighting.

I haven't been posting much anywhere except my blog ( http://www.trinlayk.blogspot.com ) lately as I'm being a nurse for my 5 yr old cat (the one from my avatar).

A couple weeks ago she yakked up a hairball from heck, and generally wasn't feeling well or eating well. She is gradually doing better, but I'm waiting on some tests from the vet, after running up quite a vet bill on OTHER tests. (see my blog for more information, and updates.)

Why, you may ask, spend so much on medical care for "just a cat"?

Megumi is a bit more than "just a cat" she's my support animal too, and even saved my life when she was a bit more than a year old. Currently, she mostly tells me to "sit down NOW" when I really need to sit down now... but back then I took a new medication for the first time, and ended up passed out with my BP rising to very scary levels. Megumi revived me by washing my face and meowing desperately, when I came to, I realized just how sick I was, and was able to call for help... I ended up in the ER, where they took care of me right away. If Megumi hadn't been able to rouse me, the next chance for me to be rescued would have been 2 HOURS later when my then teenaged daughter got home from school.

She's the best darn cat in the Universe.

My Godson's Blanket

Okay here is the blanket I made my godson for his b-day which is the same day as mine. It is made with scrap greeens. It is 61 inches from point to point and I used a J hook.
Here he is sitting next to his blanket to kind of show the size.
This one he is making a silly face at his mom. As you can see he is sitting on one of the points that just how big it is.
Here he is laying on it to show size again.
And finally he wanted to be a green ghost lol. Oh and he turned 4 on our birthday this year.

Todd the Kappa

I made him as a gift for a friend into boating,
who also is the center of a "kappa (greek letter k) phenomenon"
a sort of a Chaos field where perfectly functional machinery will get goofy,

amigurumi adventures

I had a busy week, I'm still posting photos to my flickr as I nearly 200 photos on a day trip with a couple of my amigurumi along.

The grey kitty hawk is Monty who was made for a friend of mine, and Mothra-bun seems to be my adventurous avitar/alter ego on these field trips. So I met up with the friend who was to become Monty's Mum, and we took her and her little girl on a day trip to Racine to see the zoo there, and to eat at Kewpie burger.

AND THEN, we went a bit further to Kenosha to ride the trolley and see their new museum.

I found that Mothra having adventures makes for a fun photo collection.

My freeform baby blanket

I am 34 weeks pregnant, so I'm very happy to be finished this blanket for my baby Penelope. All of the pieces are free form (scrumbled) pieces that I crocheted together. My original goal was to make it a flat square blanket. There is no way that I could figure out to piece the pieces together in an actual square, so the resulting shape is a more organic form. There are puffy spots and flat spots, there are many different textures all through out the blanket. Penelope should have fun just feeling the blanket. In the end, I did a round of black HDC and a few DC to create a nice border around all of the pieces. Then I made a pink shell edge (5 HDC in a ch then 2 SC in the following 2 chains) to give it a pretty girly ruffle. Pink and black are just so awesome together. Doing this blanket has inspired me to try something new. If I have the energy, I will be making some clothes :)

Rainbow Dagon

Huggable elder god. Rainbow Dagon has sweet yellow eyes, and fins.

So cute you don't mind going insane. Perfect for the SF or H.P Lovecraft fans.
This chibi Dagon is searching for a home, and souls to live with him forever in the seas.
(Some mutations may be involved, but really, it's not so bad.)

Dagon is 6.5 inches tall, would love to have everyone come live in the sea as a sort of human-fishy creature thing... and eventually eat your soul.

I am 6 months pregnant with a baby girl, so I am making her a blanket. I decided to do it in small pieces and crochet them together. I have seen other people do scrumbles and have always wanted to try it. It's pretty fun just to do free form instead of following a pattern. Once I make up a square of tiny pieces, I'll do a border around the edge to finish it off. New Hoodie for my God son

Okay here is the hoodie I made my god son. I always make his sisters things and the last time I came over to thier house he put his hand to his chest and said, "Where's mine?, where's Bernies?" so I broke down and made this for him. It's a size 3T and I got the pattern from www.crochetgarden.com under the pattern section called "Nordic River Hoodie". That is the front of the hoodie.
Here is the back of the hoodie.
Here is the little man happily in his hoodie. He was so excited when I said I had soemthing for him and not his sister's.

Goldie is a friendly little kitty hawk.
She likes to travel and see new things and meet new people and have her photo taken with them.

Goldie is 4 in tall with a 3 in wingspan!
She is crochet from silk, so probably NOT appropriate for small children.

I just finished the kitty above, she's in my ETSY now. I'm almost done with a Polar Bear for a friend.... (He doesn't know he's getting it, Bjorn is going to have a laptop, tie, and hopefully eyeglasses when I'm all done.)

I would like to thank Marlo @ "That Girl Crochet" for posting a wonderful, fast, and fun pattern.... the Quick and Quirky Q Hook Poncho. I made one for myself yesterday and one for my daughter this morning. My daughter is modeling both ponchos....... the purple one is hers, and the orange one is mine.

I guess I broke my New Year's Resolution that I wasn't starting any new projects until I finished my 63 square afghan and my Aztec Sun Afghan. Oops :-)

Ok did my oldest daughter Nesa a pretty shell stitch poncho she so loves it got the pattern from HERE I've saw so many people doing these shell ponchos for there little ones that I decided to give it a try. Plus Nesa haven't had a poncho in awhile and lots of kids at school have been wearing ponchos that was brought and now crochet so wanted to make something you know more unique for Nesa. Plus she been asking me to make her one. So I whipped this up in like 1 hour wrist still hurts from doing those dang triples.

In a fit of energy, Lesa ~~convinced me~~ posted about wanting new posters for her awesome blog. I read through the blog and thought, "Why not?" I wanted to be a bit more active on my own blog, which is ridiculously unloved. I thought by posting here semi-regularly, I would post there semi-regularly. So, that is my crime of passion. Well, that and crocheting. I think the crocheting part is obvious, though.

My name is Renee. I live in Dayton, OH, which is a smallish metropolitan area north of Cincinnati. I am a graduate student taking a bit of a hiatus while I sort out some health issues. I study women's issues in nonwestern countries, particularly women's involvement with cults. Although, I'm sure none of you are actually interested in that particular aspect of me.

My crocheting is probably a bit more interesting. I have been crocheting for a little over a year. My mother taught me after years of trying to learn how to knit. Knitting does not work, crocheting obviously did. I took to it immediately and have since become a bit ... enthusiastic.

I crochet primarily "fannish" things. By this, I mean Harry Potter related items and other "fannish things." I also do commissions and gifties. I think the only real thing I ever crochet for myself are blankets (and scrapghans at that).

Here you see my friend Beth modeling her "Lord Voldemort" Weasley sweater. This is an early model in which I was still working out collar issues. They are since worked out. :D

Beth cosplays Voldemort and so, she was a perfect person to try out the style on. Of course, it's funny as well. The sweater is done in sc with front, back and sleeves all separate. I sew it together using a sc instead of anything else to give it a bit of stiffness in the seams and help with the inside out thing for some folks whose letter is the same for both sides.

On your right, is the portion of a cardigan I'm making for my roommate's holiday gift. She wanted something unique and interesting. What I'm doing is a cluster stitch. After a foundation row of sc, ch 2, pull a loop through the first sc, yo, pull a loop through the second, yo. Pull last yo through all four loops on hook. Ch1. That gives you the cluster pattern I am using. The fashioning of the sweater is going to be rather unique and hopefully my pattern will make sense to anyone else who reads it. I'm making the sweater in the style of a robe. The piece to the right is the bottom all the way to just below the bust (right now). It will be solid all the way to the sleeve line. I'll leave space to insert the sleeve directly into the solid pattern. I will mold the front section directly off of the solid portion (man I wish I was better at this) and attach it to the neckline. THEN - I plan to crochet a wide lapel collar that will continue down to hold the button and button holes. The sleeves and body of the sweater are in the cluster pattern. The lapel will probably be in sc to allow for a tighter weave and contrast.

So now here goes my moms purse.
I haven't shown it to her just yet. I love it I did start writing the pattern as I went but, then I fall off of writing I was so used to just crocheting that I stopped counting rows and gave up on writing it.

So here it is. Love it.
This purse is done all in one piece well the body of the purse is the back, front and bottom the straps are crochet on.

Inside, still debating to put a lining in the purse. I want to ask my mom what she think before adding it because tell you the truth it looks nice and it keeps its hold without the lining.:)

Ok now here goes my cousin messager bag. She's still in school and she said, she want something that will have a flap to it and go over her arm and head so here it goes. I didn't do a pattern to this but, it was so easy to do that next time I do one I will write it down as I go. This purse was done in all one piece that is what makes it so simply and easy.
As you can see below the purse also has the letter A on it meaning my cousin name is Ariel. I haven't yet given it to her but, I know she will love it she seen all the other things I done before and just say Oooooooooo I want one. So there you have it my weekend.

So here is my cousin's messager bag.
The body of this bag is done in all one piece the flap, back, front and bottom. I then attached the strap.

Done in double strands one strand black second strands blue thats for the whole body and strap. For the flap done in 2 strands black for the background and 2 strands light blue for the letter A. The double strands is to help give the bag more shape to it.

It's been a while since I have been able to post, but I wanted to share these.

This group of knitted and crocheted food are part of a swap from swap-bot.com - Knit & Crochet Tasty Goodies. The recipient was also the co-ordinator and she said she was a fan of Harry Potter and loved miniature things. The candy cane is about 2 1/2" long to give you a bit of scale. I forgot to take a picture next to a coin.

Here is the text of the letter that I sent along with the "goodies".

Seraphina's Shawl

Tonight I finished Seraphina's shawl! *happy dance!!*

I didn't make it nearly as long as Doni's pattern suggests, because I think this length and weight is perfect for Grandma.

I used Caron Simply Soft and an "I" hook. Because I used a smaller hook and less bulky yarn, the stitches were tighter than in the original pattern, actually making the shawl pleasantly heavy and pretty warm. I used about 2 and a half skeins...approximately 15 ounces (about 425 grams).

(Please excuse my uneven hair...either some of it is behind the shawl or I need a haircut even more than I'd thought!)

Loved this stitch first time using it love that it closes up the stitches very well hiding the wholes from the stitches.

I also liked this one never done a slant stitch or work from one part of the stitching then find myself going back to a stitch that was slip to make the slant. Like this stitch. I used it for the bottom of the shirt.

Two Different Colored Pink Camo Ponchos

This first one is for my 6 yr old goddaughter Sierra and you can see it's made from Red Heart Pink Camo.
This one is for my 4 yr old goddaughter Lucy and it is made from Bernat Pink Camo.
Here they both are together. Both are pink camo but very different colors. Both are made with four big granny squares sl st together and I added an edging around the neck and a shell edging along the bottom.

Here is Lucy blowing a kiss in her poncho she is such a ham.
Here is Sierra being such a trooper despite having pink eye in her left eye. These two ponchos took me about 4 days due to working in between making them.

Butterfly Twin Gurls

Here are my butterfly gurls I did. The pattern came from this site http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5347491 she has such awesome patterns. She calles the pattern Fransica but mine are named different. That is the front of them.
Here is the back of them showing thier wings which is different from the patterns wings.
This one is Aiko (eye-co) she is dark and gothic so she wanted her wings black but no I decided to make them a variegated color.
This is her happy colorful twin named Suki (sue-key) who is the total opposite of her twin but she loves her just the same. Both gurls are made with Red Heart yarns in Black and Zebra for Aiko and Pink Camo and Soft Pink for Suki. Aiko is made with Caron Simply Soft in True White for her skin and Suki is an Off White colored yarn I got from the thrift shop for her skin. These patterns are easy and fun you should go to the link I provided and buy some of her patterns you won't be disappointed.

This weekend I finished the hat I started a few weeks ago. I just haven't been spending any time crocheting or knitting because I'm so exhausted from life. Of course I changed the pattern I was following. I did not stripe the hat because the yarn I was using was interesting enough without stripes. I also did more rounds because I wanted it to cover my ears. It ended up being too loose with 55 chains around so I had to reduce down to forty something in the last rows with an hdc instead of the dc that the rest was made in. While making this hat, I was also trying to teach my friend Rosalynd how to crochet the same hat. She was intoxicated for part of her construction as well as being left handed. So it was tricky to teach her. She must have switched her gauge or something between rounds. She decided it wasn't worth continuing, I agreed. So Milo is wearing her crazy little doll hat.

Wool Scarf

Hi chickies!

The last few weeks have been crazy warm and its been difficult to get into making winter items. Finally, on Wednesday the temperature dropped a little and I can finally get into cold weather spirit.

Here is a scarf I made with Patons Classic Merino Wool yarn. Love this stuff! I didn't use a pattern...just chained 163 and double crocheted for 10 rows, changing colors on the 3rd and 5th row.

I brought this plain white shirt of my daughter. I really don't like these shirts because it's so plain but, I still buy them to jazz the shirts up a bit. Like dye it or give it a little glamour and spice to it but, this time I wanted to crochet a bolero for it. :) So here is the before and now the after.

I heard that hats can be crocheted in one night. So I decided I should have a crochet a hat evening. On Tuesday, I tested this out on my knitting/crochet night to make sure it was possible. I got 12 rows out of 19 done in one night along with trying to teach a friend how to crochet and read a pattern (she didn't get very far). The other 7 I finished last night, in total I think it took 3 hours and 45 minutes to crochet the hat. It's kind of a goofy hat, so if you want it, happy birthday to you. I didn't have time to go out and buy yarn, so I just used some yarn from my crazy yarn basket. The pattern called for an H hook. Of course I changed the pattern as I worked it (I'm a control freak I guess). Here is my updated pattern.

Starting with the center top of hat, chain 5. Join the chain with a slip st so that you have a ring. Chain 2 and count this as first st on first row.

ROW 1 Work 9 hdc in the ring (or you can use a single or double crochet st depending on the yarn and what effect you want to achieve). Join last st to first with a slip st and chain 2 which makes the first st of row 2.(chain 2 will be 1st st on each row).

ROW 2 Work one st in same st as joining st, then 2 st in each st around.Join to top of chain 2. (End all rows by joining to the top of chain 2)

ROW3 Chain 2, one st in first st, two sts in the next st (increase by one st every other st. Do this all the way around). Join as in row 1.

Row 4 Chain 2, crochet around making 2 sts in every 3rd st (increase made), one st in the st in between.

Row 5 Chain 2, increase ( 2 sts) in every 4th st around.

Row 6-8 Chain 2, increase ( 2 sts) in every 5th st around.

Row 9 Decrease every 3rd st by skipping each 3rd st. Crochet in all others around.

Row 10-11 Hdc in every st around.Row 12 Hdc around, Increase in every 5th st around.

(2 hours 20 minutes)

ROW 13 14 Hdc in every st around.

ROW 15 Repeat row 9.

Row 16 Hdc in every st around.

Row 17 Hdc around. Decrease every 5th st by skipping each 5th st around.After joining with slip st, do not make a chain 2 stitch.

Row 18 Hdc around. Decrease every 5th st.

ROW 19 Shell Border: Make 5 hdc in next st Skip a st, slip st in next st.*Skip a st, make 5 hdc in next st, skip a st, slip st in next st.(Repeat from asterik around.) Join; cut yarn; tie off; weave tail into hat so it doesn't show.

Yea! The back of my purse is finished! It only took me 20 minutes to do these cross bones in surface crochet. I think it turned out pretty well even though it is a little off center. I am all out of the black yarn that I used, so hopefully Milo is up for yarn shopping tomorrow. Usually I am more prepared but this started out as a potholder and has evolved into a bag. Once I have the black yarn that I need, I am going to make one long rectangle of black and red stripes to work as the bottom, sides and strap of the purse. Ok here go some house shoes I whipped up for my girls. I was practicing to see how it turns out while doing the first shoe. My girls was ohhhh and awwwwing so I decided to go ahead and finished them up and here they go.

I just checked and my heart is still beating!!! :) But I haven't been doing a lot of crochet these days. I'm stuck on the spidey afghan! I don't understand how I'm suppose to make the webbing?! When I read the pattern it says that I'm suppose to crochet backward! I really don't know how to do that. I will try something else, don't know yet, if any of you "chicks" know a simple way to make the webbing please let me know.

On another subject, I did a bit of sewing, if for a swap on craftster, you can see it on my blog just click on my name above :) It's a simple and fun mini tote. I just love making it, and may start making more to sell on the web. I made one for my sister with an old Charlie Brown bed sheet and an old curtain...I don't like to waste material. I'm one of those people who "REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE". Imagine we (the world) use to throw old curtains, bed sheets, etc. in the garbage!!! Now I think twice before throwing anything away. If I don't reuse it I give it to good will! I have a few t-shirt my teenage step-daughter gave me to recon for my wee daughter, I'm just waiting for inspiration or a simple easy way to recon them..any suggestions??

OK, that's it for me (for now :O)). How are the rest of you "chicks" doing?

I love it. Love this purse. I am always crocheting other people purses and backpacks that I never really get to crochet me one so here goes my new purse love it.:)

Front
Has a crochet pocket with fun fur crocheted around it. I use the fun fur around the base of the purse also. There is 2 silver handles that I crochet around so it can be easy to carry it mainly a little more of comfront to the handles. :)

Inside with all my things.
Inside there is 4 pockets. I used the fun fur yarn to do crochet edging around the pocket I thought it would give it a bit of a big pop to it so it wont be all just black.

this is my first time posting on here since i joined so i figured i would post something good. i just finished this up today. its for Christmas of course and i was thinking it would be alot bigger then it is. its only 7 inches from the bottom point to the top point. and it should be a doily but i think its to small to be one. but that's OK cause its not for me wither. oh and it was also my first time doing the symbols. ya know what i mean. like they have in the magic crochet magazines. i wonder if that what its actually called?? oh well i am very proud of it. and i think who ever gets it (or the other one awaiting the flower) will be happy to get it.

I am taking a break from my halloween crocdhet because I decided to start putting my granny squares together from all the swaps I have been in, I didn't realize I had so many piling up. This is some of them. I am putting the squares together by pattern..............all the patterned ones together, and then all the granny squares together. I am not sure how they will come out, but my hands are so cramped from putting them together. I sorted them all yesterday by patter and traditional squares, then by color, then by size. Then laid them all out and decided how I would put them together. I had to use some colors that I didn't really want to, but I wanted to get them all used up...............then I will be set, no more squares piled up all over, and I can start collecting new ones, but this time, I think I will ask for specific colors hopefully, and that way when it comes time to put them together, I won't have to use squares that really don't match. Anyway I am using all the squares I had from exchanges, I all in all I think I had over 100 squares. The red, white and blue squares will be made another time, as I only have a few of those.
I crochet mine together using a front ridge, I like how the ridge comes out............I am using white yarn, as I could not really find a color that would look best with all of the colors from the squares.

Well this is the first crochet shirt I've ever crocheted. I've always crocheted halter tops and tube tops but, never a whole shirt so I have to say it is lovely. Like it alot.

I done my little 4 month old niece some headbands due to her having craddle cap her hair as been falling out in the front and I thought it would be nice to make her a couple of headbands to cover up that part of her hair until her hair starts back growing.

Blocking Board

I had to share this.

The Man made me a blocking board today - it was SO simple, cheap, and I LOVE it.
I got a 12 X 18 X 1 1/5 piece of styrofoam, two pieces of stiff felt, sized to match. He drew a grid on both pieces of felt, 1" X 1", covered the edges of the block with duct tape, and then I pinned the felt on either side of the board. This way, I've got both sides to use - and can stand it up. The felt is then washable should it get dirty.

This is my first attempt at blocking - and I coulnd't see shelling out $40+ on one when I'm not entirely sure if it's necessary yet - plus - I like DIY things. *chuckles*

I also wanted to throw in this other picture. This is Gaisgeiel (Buddy G). He was helping me use the new blocking board today.

Maybe he thought if he sat on the squares it would help keep them blocked?

I started to crochet this passed May. And so far I'm loving it. So much so that I decided that this year I'm making (or I will try) crochet gift for Christmas. I already started one, for my nephew, it's the Spiderman Round Ripple Afghan as seen here : http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-qgW50WM2eq_FTtR.HOXoDro-?cq=1&p=74 but I'm making the Black Spiderman one like this one : http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53785 . So far it's going great, not to hard for a beginner.

I also made a few skull cap (will post picture soon, need to fix software bug) for my daughter and even one for me. I not a hat person but I like it, I made it with camouflage yarn..I just love the camouflage yarn!!

Started a felted bag

I've been trying to make a fetled bag. I used a few different patterns but they all called for 2 strands of yarn and I didn't have enough to finish any of them. Now I'm on to the one that was the free pattern at Annie's Attic a little while back. It's going to be super easy, just 2 rectangles - 1 for the bottom and one for the body then crochet them together, make the handles and felt. I hope I have enough yarn this time, it's only a single strand.

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I've been working on some giant granny square lapghans for a local hospice charity that I work with.
My latest creation is this:

Normally my pictures are ALOT better - but it's too hot to do outside pictures - plus the neighbors dog is a terror and we have this "Killer Cicada Wasps" burrowing in our yard. I love my crochet and want to honor it with good pictures - but I don't feel like getting dive bombed by large bugs just for the purpose. :-)

This will be a hospice donation. There was no rhyme or reason to the colors, other than the colors 'matching'. I used Red Heart in Lavendar and some vareigated that I don't remember the color of and don't have the wrapper. :-P

Here is the outfit I made for my godson to wear on our b-day. Yep OUR b-day he will be 3 and I'll be a year older then I am now lol. The tube top pattern is from Christina also known as Shaelynnsmom on Crochetville. The top is a tube top with straps but I did two rows of dc's in between them. Even though I only did the dc part it is still Christinas' pattern so I have to give her credit. The shorts I got from a lady named Michelle and on Crochetville her name is grammy2twins. The pattern is called Pretty Little Girl's Shorts but I didn't add the ruffles on the legs or waist since these are for a boy. The yarn is by TLC Essentials called Surf n' Turf. It is so soft and it has a shine to it. I will post action shots after our b-day.

I'm Jess, from Lancaster, PA.

I've been crocheting since I was about 5 - was taught collectively by my Nanny, Aunt and Mom...and re-learned on my own in my late teens - being left handed always confused me when people tried to teach me. It's much more difficult than saying, "Just sit infront of me, looking at me, and mimick what I do."

So, here I am!!

I JUST started organiziing a local chapter of AseraCaring Threads - we make items for hospice patients - so that's taking up most of my crocheting time.

I AM currently, though, working on an item for myself, a gian granny square blanket. I'm enjoying going back to less complicated crochet items - and this fits the bill.

So - just glad to be here, looking forward to my stay!!!!

Lucys' 4th of July outfit

Here is the outfit I made for Lucy on the 4th of July. It was a big hit at my family reunion. The halter is a pattern from Christinas' site called the 'Laced Up Halter'. The short's were a pattern from a woman named Grammy2twins and her blog is called 'Momma Wear' the skirt is the same stitches as the halter so none of this was my own design.
Here's a pic showing the shorts underneath. I had to undo them and use Caron Simply Soft b/c the Red Heart made the shorts bulky.
Here's the little Ham in her outfit she loves taking pictures lol.

Of course she wanted me to take a pic of her drinking her first ever soda b/c I normally don't let her have them but I made an exception that day lol.

Sorry that I haven't posted on here yet girls, seems like I've been busy or miserable lately. (I suffer from regular migraines) But thank-you for all the kind comments on my blog! I don't have much time here so won't post any pictures, you can look on my blog to see some things I have made. I am a SAHM with 3 kids, Noelle 5, Jacob 4 in a week, and Elisa 7 months. I have been crocheting since I was a little girl, but mostly had done doilies and a couple of baby blankets. I started crocheting a lot more when I realized that I could while breastfeeding and then started designing my own patterns. I would like to eventually sell my own crochet patterns. I'm thinking of selling some things on Etsy right now just to get some cash to buy yarn. I am (with my husband's blessing) spending a lot of time crocheting so that I can get some things done and I plan to start writing patterns when I have 5 or 6 things that I want to write up. I'm hoping some of you might like to do pattern testing someday? I enjoy looking at all the stuff you guys have done, you're a very talented bunch!

hello ladies... just thought i'd come share some of my WIPs with you. i haven't finished anything in a while it seems... this is crossposted to my blog, where i have a few of my FOs posted if you want to see. ^_^

pattern: long open shawl
so, how's it going?: i already like this better than that monstrous sweater i had made from this yarn before. which is a good thing, since it was $40 of yarn that i wasn't going to use in sweater form. i found out what sort of yarn it is, feza baby in brown. it's 100% acrylic and it is the softest acrylic yarn i've ever worked with. it's really lightweight and drapes nicely. it splits a lot though, which is annoying. i love the stitch pattern for this shawl... if i'm not sick of doing it by the time i finish maybe i'll make another. haven't decided whether or not to include the fringe yet... what do you think?

so, how's it going?: so this is my first real attempt at patternless amigurumi... or any amigurumi, really. eventually, i'd like it to look something like this:
blooper from the mario games. what a cute little cephalopod. ^_^ anyway, i'm not sure how it's going so far... making the tentacles is boring so i've made only 4, and i'm not totally happy with how the top part is turning out so far. it's not supposed to be round, it's more of an oval shape, so it's giving me some difficulty. and it's so boring to do only single crochets all the time... i think amigurumi might not be my thing.

Here is my latest creation, nothing to complicated, no pattern to follow..I'm still practicing, learning new stitch and stuff. The embroidery design comes from this site : http://www.sewforum.com/ when you register you can access all kinds of free embroidery designs and is a forum so you can share your projects and experiences. You do need a machine for the embroidery designs, mine is a Brother PE-150. (Still learning that too....I'm very new to the handmade things..sewing crochet, knit, crafts, etc.)

I made a purse for myself not so long ago (you can see it on my blog) and had to make one for my daughter. I know the front pocket is not centered, but she doesn't care. I love anything with skulls (not scary ones only cute ones) or ladybugs.

Also, I saw this "Spider Round Ripple" on Crochetville and would like to do it for my boys and nephew for Christmas...they all love Spiderman...

Do any of you lovely ladies know how long this project is?---How long If I don't neglect my kids and my house that is!! --- And can a newbie crocheter can manage this project?
